"Find something you're afraid of and do it anyway" That's number 27 in my piece called "50 things I believe about Life and Leadership". My thing is heights. I'm not off-the-scale afraid of heights, but I don't really like standing near those floor-to-ceiling windows in tall office blocks. On my honeymoon we travelled to southern Germany and visited a castle called Neuschwanstein, which is the basis for the Disney castle. There was a huge cliff towering above. Hang gliders were jumping off the top and swooping over the castle. A challenge formed in my mind. The next morning, I found myself strapped to a German guy named Tiger - and his hang glider - about to do a tandem glide. Before us in the queue to run down the ramp, off the cliff and swoop into the sky was a teenage girl and her instructor. They started to run, but instead of swooping off the cliff, they plummeted over the edge and didn't reappear. No swooping. Just silence. Gulp. I asked Tiger if they were ok, and he said yes: there is a small ledge which catches the people who don't swoop. Gulp. We're next. Time to face the fear. I commit. I look straight forward. Start running. Don't look down. One step. Faster. Ten steps. Faster. Twenty steps....and swoop. The next 10 minutes were unlike any experience we had. Despite my name being Robin, I'd never felt like a bird before. We glided back and forth over and around the disney castle before Tiger gently landed us in a lush green meadow below. What a memory. Life is better with these peak memories, and sometimes we get them by facing our fear and doing it anyway. (Oh and sometimes it helps to have a Tiger on your back). What have you done to deliberately face a fear? If you want a copy of "50 things I believe about Life and Leadership", the link is in the comments below.

I jumped off a bridge in NZ, terrified of heights but glad I did it.
